List Of High Antioxidant Fruits

Antioxidants have become a by word for good health and beautiful skin. Fruits can give us these antioxidants, along with many vitamins and minerals, in a convenient form. Fruits are tasty and are easily available. They can be eaten raw so no nutrients are lost due to cooking.

All fruits do not have the same amount of antioxidants. Most berries and grapes are antioxidant rich. Those that top the list are:

Blue berries are green in color and turn purple as they ripen. They are sweet to taste and have a pleasant smell. Antosinin is the antioxidant they contain. It is good for the skin and inhibits inflammation and the growth of the cancer cells. Blue berries are a rich source of minerals like manganese, phosphorus, iron, zinc, potassium and calcium. The vitamins available in them are Vitamin B complex group, and Vitamins C, E and K.

Strawberries are red in color and triangular in shape. The color and taste are good and strawberry flavour is used in ice cream, desserts and sweets. The minerals it contains are potassium, magnesium, manganese and folic acid. The Vitamins it has are Vitamins B5 and 6, Vitamin K and riboflavin. It also has omega 3.

Raspberries contain many antioxidants which help digestion and prevent premature aging. These antioxidants can prevent colon cancer, heart disease, brain damage and allergies. A good amount of the fruit should be consumed often to get all these benefits.

Black berries, the shape is similar to mulberry. It does not grow singly like mulberry but in clusters. The antioxidant they contain is anthrocyanin

Grapes, the antioxidants in grapes and black berries are similar. In addition grapes contain a higher level of potassium which helps to delay aging.

Raisins are made from grapes. They are widely used in deserts and breads. They are very rich in antioxidants.

Oranges are consumed whole or in the form of juice for their high Vitamin C content. It contains traces of fat and carbohydrates. The minerals it contains are calcium, phosphorus and iron. It is rich in Vitamin A and B1. The Vitamin C in it reduces cholesterol and helps to prevent kidney stones from forming. It also prevents bone loss, anaemia and asthma.

Cherry is another fruit rich in Vitamin C. In addition, it has beta carotene which prevents cancer and respiratory infections. It increases immunity to diseases and lowers blood pressure.

Date palm has a very sweet taste and is high in energy. Vitamin C present in it is the antioxidant, the other vitamins being A, B2 and B12. It contains fructose and glucose. The minerals in it are calcium, iron, potassium, sulphur and traces of manganese, zinc and copper.

Plums this is the richest in antioxidants and helps to lower cholesterol. It is very low in calories.
